Camano Island is a large island in the Possession Sounds area of Island County, Washington between Whidbey Island and the mainland. The island has a population of 13,000 residents and occupies 40 square miles of land. The island is named for the Spanish explorer, Jacinto Caamano. Located about 48 miles from the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Camano Island offers a picturesque alternative to mainland living and gives residents a unique perspective on relocating to the area.
