Welcome to NAS Lemoore

Naval Air Station Lemoore is located in Fresno County, California, near the city of Lemoore. It was commissioned in 1961 and is the most recently established air station in the Navy. NAS Lemoore is also the Navy’s largest master jet base. Aircraft parking and maintenance hangars are aligned between two 13,500 foot runways. In July of 1998, NAS Lemoore was selected as the West Coast site for the Navy’s newest strike-fighter aircraft, the F/A-18E/F super Hornet. This brought 92 additional aircraft, 1,850 active-duty military, and 3,000 family members to the base. Between 2001 and 2004, the base acquired four new fleet squadrons. With the transfer of NAS Miramar to the US Marine Corps, NAS Lemoore became host to the entire west coast fighter fleet of the Navy.

Primary aircraft flown from the base are mainly the F/A-18 Hornet Strike Fighter, and a total of 175 Hornets and Super Hornets.

NAS Lemoore is home to Strike Fighter Wing Pacific, with five Carrier Air Wings: Carrier Air Wing 2, Carrier Air Wing 5, Carrier Air Wing 9, the Carrier Air Wing 11, and Carrier Air Wing 17. The base is also home to numerous squadrons and tenant commands.

Weather in the Lemoore area tends to be hot in the summer with temperatures in the 80s and cold in the winter with temperatures in the 40s. Annual rainfall in the area is 11 inches with the wettest month being March.
