Naval Air Station Lemoore is a United States Navy base which is the Navy’s largest master jet air station. The base is home to the Strike Fighter Wing Pacific whose supporting facilities are home ported nearby. The primary aircraft at the base include the F/A-18 Hornet Strike Fighter. There are a total of 175 Hornets home-based at NAS Lemoore. The base has two offset parallel runways laid out 4,600 feet apart. NAS Lemoore is the newest air station in the Navy and is located near Fresno, California. Fresno’s top employers include Community Medical Centers, the City of Fresno, and Kaiser Permanente. The surrounding communities near Fresno are still primarily supported by agricultural production. If traveling to Fresno by car, the main route is State 99 that runs north/south and connects the major centers of the California Central Valley. Other nearby routes are State Route 168 and State Route 180. If arriving by plane, the nearest major airport is the Fresno Yosemite International Airport which provides regular commercial airline service. Another nearby airport is the Fresno Chandler Executive Airport which is located just 2 miles from downtown Fresno. Amtrak provides passenger rail service to the area. Bus service is provided by Fresno Area Express and offers buses throughout the metropolitan area. Greyhound provides long-distance bus service.
