Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling is a consolidation of Naval Support Facility Anacostia and Bolling Air Force Base. Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling was established in October 2010 as part of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Initiative. The mission of Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling is to provide support to over 17,000 military personnel as well as over 40 tenant units. Bolling Field has always offered ceremonial support to the White House, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Secretary of the Air Force, and the United State Air Force Honor Guard. Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling is home to the Defense Intelligence Agency which moved most of its operations to the base in 1987. Housing near the Joint Base is mostly provided in the surrounding communities as homes for rent or sale as well as apartment complexes. Many housing options are offered in Woodbridge Run in Woodbridge, Virginia and Summerfield in Landover, Maryland. For those seeking temporary housing, there is a Navy Lodge in Bellevue Housing which is nearby to both Bolling Air Force Base and Naval Support Facility Anacostia. Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance by calling 1-800-NAVY-INN. Up to 10 days of temporary lodging is allowed with approval and can be extended up to 30 days. There is also a Navy Lodge at the National Naval Center in Bethesda with rooms that include kitchenettes. Call 301-654-1795 for advance reservations.
