Welcome to Little Rock AFB
Little Rock Air Force Base is a U.S. Air Force Base located near Little Rock, Arkansas. The base was established in 1955 and is the only C-130 training base for the Department of Defense. Pilots, navigators, flight engineers, and loadmasters from all branches of the Armed Forces are trained at Little Rock Air Force Base as well as 28 allied nations. Over 6,000 military personnel and 2,000 civilians currently live and work on the base. The host unit at the base is the 19th Airlift Wing who provides the DoD the largest C-130 transport fleet in the world. The fleet supplies humanitarian relief to disaster victims by airdropping supplies and troops in to the heart of the hostile areas. In addition to the 19th Airlift Wing, other units assigned to the base include the 314th Airlift Wing and the 189th Airlift Wing of the Arkansas Air National Guard. When the base was first activated in 1955, the 384th Bombardment Wing was the host unit and flew the Boeing B-47E Stratojet, and the 70th Reconnaissance Wing flew the RB-47 Stratojet and the KC-97 Stratotanker. During the 1960s, the base housed 18 intercontinental Ballistic Missiles.
