Biloxi is a city of 45,000 residents and is the county seat of Harrison County. The city was once the third-largest in the state, but after Hurricane Katrina, it slipped behind Hattiesburg. Biloxi sits right on the Mississippi Sound and is located about 3 miles from the Keesler Air Force Base. The close proximity to the base makes the city a popular destination for military families and civilians working at the base who want a shorter commute. The economy is based primarily in seafood, gaming, and tourism.
